Attorney News Letters
A new and unique service is being offered to unions to assist the union attorneys in their representation of the union members. The service is simple, to maintain a duplicate personnel file of the union members. This takes the control out of the Departments hands and places it with the union. There is no more guessing on the contents of the personnel file, there is no need to hope that commendations and training certificates are in the file and that there is minimal past disciplinary action. This service can detect the officer that is in trouble before trouble occurs, alert and advise him on the steps to take to avoid or at least minimize the damage. An officer that is found to be deficient in certain areas can immediately take steps, either through classes (outside the agency) or through other means available, steps which can counter and offset the discipline imposed. This takes the guess work out of the defense of lateral transfers and promotions. The Union and Union Attorney know going into the dispute what the evidence is, whereas now, only the Department has the facts. This service will put the Union and the Department on an equal playing field. It will maximize the efficiency of the Union to achieve its goals and minimize the distraction of political foul play. The benefits of this service are unlimited, the cost is peanuts. There is a one time $100.00 set up fee per member to obtain, set up and evaluate his/her personnel file. $60.00 a year thereafter to reevaluate it, maintain and update it. BENEFITS (sample
report) Information that is collected through the contents of a personnel file can then be inputted into a database to detect political strategies, including: *
Who is being lined up for what position; *
Discipline trends - The possibilities
are
endless. Information is Power.
Power that only the Department possesses at this time. The
EdPD gives the power to the union. See Sample Union Summary Report.
