Kudos to Retired Officer Robert Urbanski who Finally had ENOUGH!  Walked into his Police Department and Signed Charges against the Chief of Police and Internal Affairs Investigators for Official Misconduct

After years of being jerked around, of dealing with the duck and cover, and the everyday bull shit, EdPDLaw member, Retired Officer Bobby Urbanski has finally had ENOUGH!  Today he walked into the Edison Police Department and swore out an Affidavit and CRIMINAL CHARGES against the Chief of Police, Thomas Bryan, Lt. Joseph Shannon and Lt. Gregory Formica, a former Internal Affairs Investigator.

The incidents that led to this historic day began long ago, prior to 2008, when Officer Urbanski decided that he was not going to be pushed around anymore or play ball with the corrupt officials of the Edison Township Police Department.

The last straw came when Urbanski was arresting a burglary suspect on September 1, 2008.  The suspect dove through a plate glass window and emerged covered in glass.  Officer Urbanski, through the course of his duty, struggled with and arrested the suspect.  During the arrest and subsequent search of the suspect, Officer Urbanski's protective gloves were torn by the glass and he was cut, as was the suspect, and there was a transfer of blood.

At the hospital, the suspect announced that he was HIV positive and positive for Hep C and wished Urbanski to die a slow and torturous death.

Urbanski reported to the Department's Infectious Disease doctor who requested blood from the suspect who was lodged in the County Jail on outstanding warrants.  The Department, because of their dislike of Urbanski, ignored multiple requests from their own doctor for the blood warrant and were more than willing to conspire with the suspect and his death wish on Urbanski.

Consequently, Urbanski was made to undergo a rigorous treatment of HIV preventative medications which had severe side effects and ultimately led Urbanski to suffer a mild heart attack.

The request for the blood warrant was not processed until 28 DAYS after the incident occurred - the suspect was incarcerated the entire time!  The test, when finally conducted after pressure from the PBA President and the Department's own Infectious Disease Doctor, came back negative.  However, the damage had already been done as Urbanski needlessly took dangerous medications for 28 days.

Urabanski filed suit in 2009.  During the course of the discovery the Township admitted that it purposely withheld the blood test with purpose to injur Urbanski.  Lt. Shannon admitted and apologized to the Union.  Instead of facing disciplinary charges and removal, Chief Thomas Bryan PROMOTED him! To add insult to injury, he also promoted Lt. Gregory Formica!  Promotions which have since been nullified by a Superior Court judge after the PBA President of the Superior Officer's Union filed suit.

Now that these Officers have been officially charged, by Statute and Departmental Policy, they should be immediately relieved of their duties and suspended without pay.  We shall see how the Department and Internal Affairs handle this matter.......
